I received the below email from a dear friend and asked her if I could share her wonderful story with you all. Her perseverance, faith and trust in God's Will is something I will always admire and strive for.
Hi Dani,
I knew that your path to adoption was not going to work for me as a single parent, which is one reason I went the international route. I hope you get chosen soon, I made my donation on Mother's Day, specifically with the prayer that it would be your last one as a childless mother.
Things have not always been smooth with my girls, but all three are grateful that someone was willing to choose them and love them, and teach them how a family should be. I have no doubt that your child will feel the same.
I don't know if you know the "coincidence" that led to them being the particular children I adopted. When I began thinking about adoption, I decided a little Chinese girl made sense. After all, my father was born in China where his parents were missionaries, I had majored in Asian studies in college, and I met the criteria for adopting from there. During the long waiting period the adoption agency sent a little magazine every couple of months that included pictures of adopted kids and kids waiting to be adopted. I can remember telling people that if I wasn't planning on adopting from China, I would choose the three girls in one of the pictures. Wouldn't you know it, by the time everything was approved, China had changed its requirements and I was no longer eligible. So I asked if the three girls in the picture were available, and you know the rest. So know that God is in charge and will put the right child in your arms.
I miss the days you lived next door. It felt like a miracle the evening you all first showed up with SIX girls. Thanks for being great neighbors, backyard Bible school and all.
Love,
Gail
